What to Expect

In the event of inclement weather please contact us at 705-933-4222 or 705-745-3238 x 400 and leave a message. Each situation will be assessed on an individual basis.

ARRIVING ON TIME
All film programs must start at their scheduled time. There are approximately 6000 students who attend the festival which means we run on a tight schedule! Students will enter the theatre no earlier than 10 minutes before the program begins. In the case of late arrival, classes will be seated by theatre staff at their discretion. Please take into consideration traffic and weather conditions when arranging transportation.

It is recommended that students use their school facilities before leaving for the Festival. We have limited facilities in our theatres, we’re on a very tight schedule and bathroom breaks throughout the program are disruptive to other audience members.

We ask that teachers and school volunteers be responsible at all times for

  • ensuring student discipline and conduct (see teacher’s manual)
  • monitoring student whereabouts at all times
  • overseeing students who need to leave the theatre or premises, individually or in groups
  • notifying ReFrame’s REELKids staff at 705-933-4222 in the event of an emergency or potential late arrival to film screenings or workshops

REELKids staff and theatre attendants will be on hand to facilitate registration, and to accompany groups to their designated seats. Please note we can not take on the responsibilities of a school supervisor. Children must be with a representative of their school at all times.

Seating Arrangements
Students are seated with their classrooms. Please bring the appropriate number of supervisors per classroom to ensure adequate supervision out of respect for the other audience members. We ask that teachers and supervisors disperse themselves throughout the rows in which their students are seated.

Intermediate Teachers
REELkids organizers highly recommend Intermediate students be involved in discussions and other pre-festival activities related to film topics prior to coming to the REELkids Film Festival. This will help to ensure a meaningful viewing experience for all.

Tell us what you think!
We’d love to see follow-up student work (letters, drawings or writing) so please send them to us at our mailing address or via email. Receiving feedback is incredibly rewarding and will help us to show our funders why they should continue to fund our program.
