This is 3D animation.  Young Livio can’t stand being too close to other people and lives in a bubble which gives him 46 cm of safety.  He works as a supermarket security officer and one day in the store notices a sweet girl – Gaia- on the CCTV cameras.  Something profound changes in Livio’s life, who tries clumslily to confront the change.  The bubble is probably not the solution to his problem.

Based on a poem by Marie Jacobs, the animated short 55 Socks, by Oscar-winning director Co Hoedeman, pays tribute to the ingenuity of the Dutch people during a dark period of their history – the winter of hunger of 1944-45. It’s the closing months of the war in occupied Holland and some women unravel a beautiful bedspread in order to knit 55 socks to barter for food. Reaching back into his childhood memories, Hoedeman has made a simple, poetic film of rare beauty.

This story is about little Dedh Footiya, a boy who is very short. Since he is very chotu, he is always made fun of in school and by all his friends. Everyone thinks they can just tease and make fun of him. He explains the different problems one faces being short, where one cannot reach anything and has to always struggle to do what others do so easily. He also describes all the things he has tried to make himself taller, but to no avail. But just when things seem so difficult, he tells us how he managed to overcome his shortcoming and convert it into his strength! He shows what problems tall people have in their life and how ultimately in the end, its about the confidence and self-esteem you have inside. And once you know that being tall or short have nothing to do with it – fantastic things can happen!

Anjali begrudgingly takes care of her elder sister Manjari, who is always unwell. She feels that Manjari gets all the attention and a better deal for nearly everything. She is even denied of a sports cycle that she has always wanted. Anjali tries to earn it herself by participating in a fancy dress competition with Manjari’s encouragement and support, however she loses the competition. Understanding Anjali’s desire Manjari takes part in a chess competition and buys the sports cycle with the prize money. Anjali is extremely excited with her new cycle but does not know that Manjari has bought it for her. She blames Mnjari for being jealous and damaging her cycle. She stumbles upon the tuth and realizes how she has misjudged Manjari. The truth brings the two sisters closer.

Many of the ideas expressed in Footprints emerged from a student and staff think tank about environmental issues. Student comments, questions and misconceptions became the foundation for the final product that uses strong visual metaphors to communicate ideas. The film doesn’t try to explain a concept but rather open it up for discussion with a question – “What is a carbon footprint?” – a very difficult concept for children to grasp.
